Kathryn Bowles, Ph.D., RN, FAAN, the co-founder of RightCare, has been designated as an “Edge Runner” by the American Academy of Nursing.

The Edge Runner award is given to nurses who are innovators who have created care models and interventions that demonstrate significant clinical and financial outcomes.

Bowles’ work focuses on identifying high-risk patients and making referral decisions regarding post-acute care. Her Discharge Decision Support System has demonstrated success in improving patient care and reducing hospital costs associated with readmission, the company said.

“We are extraordinarily proud of Dr. Bowles and this honorable designation that she has received for her contributions to the field of healthcare,” said Eric Heil, RightCare co-founder, president & CEO. “She has always been committed to improving outcomes for patients, and has worked diligently to develop new, innovative and revolutionary ways to enhance our product and help optimize post-acute care transitions for patients and health systems.”
