Remedi SeniorCare has achieved certification of a bidirectional interface through HL7 messaging protocols with Optimus EMR for long-term care facilities within Ohio.

“This approval expands the opportunity for shared Remedi-Optimus serviced facilities nationwide to leverage the pharmacy interface to heighten efficiency in clinical operations and data integrity,” the company said.

Facilities implementing an EHR with a pharmacy interface can achieve better safety, quality and efficiency, as well as reduced costs.

“Designing a meaningful exchange of clinical information begins with developing robust IT interfaces that support the shared objective of connecting care and building value into an accountable facility-resident relationship,” says David Lashar, Remedi’s Chief Information Officer.

Facilities with Computerized Physician Order Entry (CPOE) and electronic MAR (eMAR) can see “seamless updating of patient records with order information,” the company said.

“Our customers appreciate and benefit from the automation introduced through the pharmacy interface,” said Robert Davis, CEO of Optimus EMR. “The medication ordering process is one of the most labor-intensive activities of the nurses in LTPAC, when done manually and without a real time bidirectional interface.”
