Long-term care providers and their legal representatives will tackle some of their toughest issues Wednesday through Friday at the national “Long Term Care and the Law” seminar in Miami. Legal implications of emerging trends, healthcare reform, the False Claims Act, documentation problems, labor law and the Five-Star Nursing Home Quality Rating System are just some of the topics that will be examined. The American Health Lawyers Association hosts the program, which will be held at the Doral Golf Resort and Spa.
This year, the program has been expanded beyond nursing facilities and will also focus on issues concerning assisted living facility operators and home healthcare. Attending the three-day seminar could net long-term care administrators up to 17 credits and attorneys additional educational credits, organizers said.
Supporters of the conference include local Florida health law and long-term care associations, as well as national groups such as the American Health Care Association, the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, the Assisted Living Federation of America and the American Seniors Housing Association.
