An Illinois rehabilitation and transitional care facility has agreed to pay $55,000 to settle a disability discrimination suit brought by the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Alden Estates of Naperville allegedly fired its admissions director while she was out on a medical leave of absence. She was scheduled to return to work the next week, the EEOC asserted. Alden did not return calls by press time.

“When a case settles quickly without drawn-out litigation, everyone wins,” said EEOC Regional Attorney John Hendrickson wrote in a statement. “”EEOC obtains the relief it seeks, and Alden can continue to focus on the business of providing health care.”
