SCA, which owns Tork and Tena, have announced they will split into two separate companies. The Away-from-Home tissue and medical solutions company formerly under Tena and Tork will be known as Essity, while its forest products company will continue to be known by SCA.

The name Essity stems from the words “essentials” and “necessities,” the company said. The decision was made via a vote by the board of directors during the annual general meeting on April 5.

SCA recently acquired BSN medical, and also offers brands that include Leukoplast, Cutimed, JOBST, Delta Cast, Delta Lite and Actimove.

Officials said splitting reflected global market trends. By the end of 2016, 86% of the company was focused on hygiene and health, with 14% in forest products, and “synergies between the operations have diminished over time,” the company said.
