Robotic company expands
ReWalk Robotics, which has created an exoskeleton suit for paraplegics, is expanding.
Executives told the Boston Business Journal that the 15-year-old company is now being reimbursed by the U.S. Department of Veteran Affairs. Two hundred devices have been purchased in the United States and Canada. The company more than tripled its space in a new location and plans to add additional employees.
Insurers also are interested in allowing members to buy the device, which has a cage-like casing for the person's legs, allowing him or her to walk. The company is moving into the market for seniors, multiple sclerosis patients and stroke patients with a new device being developed with ReWalk and Harvard, the BBJ reported.
