Providers to pay for own sprinklers: CMS
In a new rule, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said all nursing homes will be required to have full automatic sprinkler coverage within five years. Failure to do so will result in termination from Medicare and Medicaid program participation, the government warned. The agency also said that nursing homes will not receive financial assistance to meet this obligation. The government estimates that almost one out of every 11 nursing homes does not currently have a sprinkler system in place.
