Pain app may help researchers
Users of a new app called Manage My Pain will be providing data to a York University psychology study, researchers said.
The company ManagingLife, based in Toronto, created the app in hopes to improve physician-patient communication, but researchers said the outcomes can help explore patterns in pain.
"Most chronic pain studies involve hundreds of participants but thanks to this app, we have several thousands of patients' data to work with including hundreds of thousands of data points,” said Joel Katz, Ph.D., Canada Research Chair in Health Psychology at York University.
The analysis will be at York U's Human Pain Mechanisms Lab, where Katz is the principal investigator.
