OPEP products debuted at respiratory care show
D R Burton Healthcare Products has introduced new oscillating positive expiratory pressure (OPEP) products at the American Association of Respiratory Care Congress in San Antonio, TX.
This includes its iPEP (Incentive Positive Expiratory Pressure Therapy), which is a metric-based product measuring lung volume. It is part of the treatment for atelectasis, a condition in which one or more areas of the lungs collapse or don't inflate properly.
The products are meant to reduce pneumonia risk in high-risk patients.
"Treating atelectasis starts with lung volume. The iPEP takes the mystery out of OPEP therapy by providing patients and healthcare providers with important and immediate feedback in real time that measures the patient's inspiratory capacity during therapy,” according to Dennis Cook, BSRT, RRT, CEO of D R Burton.
The iPEP system includes a palm-sized PocketPEP®, a compact OPEP device.
