Robots designed to help older people perform activities of daily living could be available in less than four years, according to researchers at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Investigators predict that these long-term care robots could cost less than $20,000 and last for more than a decade. While the new machines could help alleviate staffing challenges, it remains to be seen whether residents would accept them, experts warn.
