Industry vendors find a new partner: long-term care groups

One of the more interesting developments we're seeing lately is the partnering of long-term care associations and vendors. Typically, this takes the form of an association sanctioning a vendor's research, but the relationship can get more complicated. Last week, the National Association Directors of Nursing Administration/Long Term Care (NADONA) announced plans to team up with Purell. The result will be a study exploring how hand sanitizers affect infection rates. This came right after Samarion announced a dementia-care project with the Alzheimer's Foundation. Such partnerships would appear to offer benefits for both sides. But some critics—including non-selected vendors—are questioning their propriety.
