Employees continue to pay larger share of healthcare costs, index finds

The amount that American workers spend on healthcare services increased by 10.6% last year, according to consulting firm Milliman's fifth annual Milliman Medical Index (MMI). The $650 increase includes $500 for employee contributions to their company's health plan and $150 for employee out-of-pocket expenses. Employees' share of health care costs have seen double-digit increases for three consecutive years, according to the Milliman index.
