Share this content:
Engineers at Saitama University in Japan have created a unique wheelchair movement system. The innovation allows wheelchairs to remain next to a walking provider who wears a radio beacon. The device can provide staffing relief by allowing multiple wheelchairs to accompany a single caregiver, according to its inventors. The innovation is also likely to be a boon for people who have trouble controlling their own wheelchairs. Commercial production is expected shortly.
