One formerly illegal product is being seen more often in nursing homes: medical marijuana. Older boomers are increasingly using cannabis for pain, dementia and other conditions. While a growing number of states allow its use, federal law prohibits it. So what happens when users are admitted to nursing homes? Do administrators look the other way and put federal payments at risk? And how should the product be stored and administered? It's a safe bet that providers, associations, regulators and perhaps even Congress will be addressing this issue in the near future.
