The American Society for Pain Management Nurses are preparing for their annual conference, which this year has the theme of “Unbridled Spirit: Achieving Safe, Quality Outcomes in Pain Management.” The event will run from Sept. 7-10 at the Louisville Marriott Downtown.

Session topics of particular interest for post-acute providers include “Purposeful Pain Assessment in Older Adults with Delirium Can Improve Outcomes” and “Quality Pain Management Nursing in the ‘New Normal’ of Opioid Prescribing: Barriers & Opportunities.”

The target audience includes registered nurses and APNs practicing pain management, as well as faculty or students with interest in pain management. This year’s charity beneficiary is The Healing Place.

Keynote speakers include Gwen D. Sherwood, Ph.D., MSN, BSN, Professor and Associate Dean for Academic Affairs, University of North Carolina School of Nursing.
