The federal government this week released pandemic flu preparedness guidance specifically for healthcare workers and their employers.

Earlier this year, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration issued general guidance for workplaces. This new guidance is consistent with all previous pandemic preparedness guidance issued by various federal agencies, OSHA said.

OSHA’s new 104-page document addresses flu diagnosis and treatment, infection control, healthcare worker vaccination, personal protective equipment, preparedness planning, and OSHA standards.
