OIG open to discussions about long-term care quality

A recent roundtable discussion yielded a greater understanding of how the Department of Health and Human Services' Office of Inspector General and long-term can work together to improve quality, a recently released report found. 

On December 6 of last year, government representatives met with long-term care administrators, clinicians, compliance officers and other long-term care professionals to discuss pressing quality-of-care issues. At this meeting, entitled "Driving for Quality in Long-Term Care: A Board of Directors Dashboard," participants talked about processes of monitoring, measuring and improving quality of care. A dashboard is a management tool to assess and oversee performance on quality-of-care issues. 

The OIG said it will consider opportunities for dialogue with the long-term care industry. Both The OIG and the Health Care Compliance Association held the meeting last December and jointly released the report.
