The owners of a New York nursing home company have pleaded guilty to charges that they covered up resident abuse and neglect.

MVNH Associates LLC owners Gerald and Justin Wood both pleaded guilty last week to charges of eavesdropping and conspiracy. Gerald Wood was sentenced to three years of probation, while Justin Wood received one year of conditional discharge, the Utica Observer-Dispatch reported. Conditional discharge is a form of probation that withholds punishment as long as the defendant complies with certain conditions.

MVNH Associates LLC operates Mohawk Valley Health Care Center in Ilion, NY, where incidents involving medication errors and unlawful sexual conduct between residents spurred an investigation by state officials.

A total of four employees, including the Woods, were accused of conspiracy, willful violation of health laws, eavesdropping, felony tampering with physical evidence, falsifying business records and forgery in a 45-count indictment. Director of Nursing Nicolle Wagner-Stinson pleaded guilty in August and awaits sentencing. Administrator John Prendergast has not entered a plea.
