Nursing home employees rushed to the site of a plane crash Monday in a wooded area in North Augusta, SC. The six workers of the Anne Maria Rehab and Nursing Center were, however, unable to aid the three passengers on the Cessna 182, who were killed in the crash.

The plane was headed to Greenville, MS, Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Christopher White said.

Some of the nursing home residents out for a smoke break said the plane sounded like it was in trouble as it passed over the home, Kevin Ginn, chief operating officer for the facility, told the Associated Press. The nursing home employees could not get the doors open before the emergency crews arrived.
