The seniors housing and care industry remained robust in the last quarter of 2007. As an example, the percentage of performing loans rose slightly to 99.5%, a new report by the National Investment Center for the Senior Housing & Care Industry (NIC) says. Recent loan performance trouble common to many other areas of the market in recent months has not made an impact on seniors housing and care, according to Robert Kramer, president of NIC. He speculates that loan performance in the first half of 2008 will continue on a similar path.

Sanyo has unveiled two new portable LCD multimedia projectors, the PLC-ET30L and the PLC-XT21/L. The projectors are designed to work in environments where ambient light is inevitable. Both are also equipped with Sanyo's "PJ Network" interface, that enables them to be operated by remote via a Web browser using an optional networking module.

Test may offer early detection

A blood test that diagnoses Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's and other neurodegenerative diseases with over 90% accuracy could be on the market as early as this summer, according to a report from the Society of Chemical Industry. Power3 Medical Products has developed the test to measure the relative levels of 59 different protein biomarkers in the blood. NuroPro, as the test is called, can then distinguish between the different diseases. This would be the first diagnostic test for these types of disorders ever available, according to the firm.
 

Groups target pest problems

Orkin Commercial Services and the American Society of Healthcare Environmental Services have jointly launched a Website that helps providers manage pest issues more effectively. Training, self-assessment and best practices are available, according to both organizations.
 

ADL helps New York nonprofits

ADL has completed an interface to NYSAHA's Equip system. With this interface, operators can now automatically transmit their locked MDS to the EQUIP Website for instant feedback from the EQUIP database. Operators can also use their Continuous Quality Improvement software, without any additional user intervention.
 

Dell'Anno joins Formation Capital as COO

Damian N. Dell'Anno has jointed Formation Capital as Senior Executive Vice President and COO. In this role, he will lead daily operations and the organization's direction, according to the firm. He previously served as CEO for Harborside Healthcare.
