But an analysis by the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging shows that nursing homes are more than holding their own. Analysts found that nearly all facilities have electronic information systems for MDS data collection and billing, while 43% maintain electronic health record systems. That compares very favorably to what's happening in hospitals and physicians' offices, the report concludes.

Resource Systems, AANAC, recognize nurse assistants

Resource Systems and the American Association of Nurse Assessment Coordinators have partnered to develop the Nursing Assistant of the Year Scholarship Program. Scholarship recipients will receive $5,000. The amount can be put toward the completion of a master's degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree or technical certification in nursing. In addition, the facility from which the winner is chosen will receive $1,000. That total can be used for continuing education or training, according to the organizations.
