While the nation's economy may be on shaky ground, market fundamentals remain strong for the seniors housing and care field, according to a new report from the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing & Care Industry. For both the assisted living and independent sectors, demand continued to grow in the first quarter, investigators found. "We're really not seeing a significant amount of stress on the industry as of yet from the spillover of the residential housing market and economic slowdown," said Michael Hargrave, vice president of NIC MAP.

Intel gets approval for personal health system

The Food and Drug Administration has granted 510(k) market clearance to Intel Corporation for its personal health system. The product aids healthcare professionals who manage patients with chronic conditions in their homes. The system is expected to be available commercially later this year, Intel announced.
