Offensive language

As the economy continues to struggle, curse words are being heard more often in many workplaces, including eldercare settings. But beware, cussing on the job can be an occupational hazard. A survey from TheLadders.com reveals that 36% of all bosses have issued formal warnings against workers using offensive language. In fact, 6% have fired an employee for swearing. It appears people reluctant to clean up their act risk being asked to clear out.

Previously, this technology was only available to clinical trial participants. The device works by providing electrical stimulation to muscle and nerves that run through the diaphragm.

Providers to pay for own sprinklers: CMS

In a new rule, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services said all nursing homes will be required to have full automatic sprinkler coverage within five years. Failure to do so will result in termination from Medicare and Medicaid program participation, the government warned. The agency also said that nursing homes will not receive financial assistance to meet this obligation. The government estimates that almost one out of every 11 nursing homes does not currently have a sprinkler system in place.
