A total of 75% of healthcare providers think that a national health insurance plan would reduce the quality of care or have a neutral effect. That is according to the results of a study of 500 various healthcare providers, including nursing homes.

The study, which was conducted by Ivans Inc., found that 72% of healthcare providers believe a pay-for-performance model could lead to improved patient outcomes. A total of 27.8% of the respondents from the May survey were from nursing homes. Ivans is an insurance organization that provides technological solutions for insurance companies and healthcare firms.

One take-away of the survey, which encompassed everything from healthcare reform to information technology implementation, is to show that providers need to upgrade their technology to adjust to any healthcare reforms that might occur, Clare DeNicola, president and CEO of Ivans, told McKnight’s.
