Listening to music for an hour a day will bring some relief to people suffering from chronic pain, new study results show.

Researchers at the Cleveland Clinic and Case Western Reserve University found that adults with chronic pain reported less pain, depression and disability after a week of listening to music for an hour a day. Study participants also said they felt more empowered from the music therapy. Researchers note that the kind of music they listened to had no bearing on the pain relief experienced.

The study was published in the June issue of the Journal of Advanced Nursing.
