The quality of life that ailing older adults experience is largely determined by their financial resources, health and enjoyment of life, a new study finds.

Emotional support and physical environment also play a role, according to the study, which was published in the journal Research in Nursing & Health. Investigators examined more than 400 Canadians between 60 and 99 with illnesses including chronic lung, heart problems and other ailments.

The study results echoed findings from a similar study two years ago that included more than 200 elderly people. The findings will help researchers better understand the elderly and aging baby boomers.
