The son of a nursing home resident says he found a photo of a male stripper gyrating above his 86-year-old mother, and was told it reflected part of an “entertainment event” for residents.

That has led to a lawsuit against East Neck Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in West Bablyon, NY.

The resident, Bernice Youngblood, has dementia and was unable to consent to the activity, according to a lawsuit filed by her and her son, Franklin Youngblood, against the center, which is owned by Cassena Care.

An attorney representing the facility told CBS New York that residents voted to have the strippers and that the nursing home paid the $250 fee.

“There is nothing inappropriate about it; these are adults,” the attorney, Howard Fensterman, told the station.

Franklin Youngblood states in the lawsuit that when he asked a nurse about a photo of the stripper standing over his mother, she tried to grab it out of his hand. Franklin Youngblood also asked staff why his mother had dollar bills in her possession.

“Upon information and belief, hiring male strippers to perform for the Defendant’s nursing home patients was a serial occurrence and was a custom, practice, and policy of the Defendant, its agents and employees, to orchestrate such events, willingly and knowingly,” the lawsuit states.
