Stakeholders to gather this week for nursing home quality summit

Healthcare providers, caregivers, consumers, government leaders and others will convene a summit Friday to address the state of nursing home quality in Washington, DC.

Keynote speakers at the National Summit on Nursing Home Quality will include: Dr. Mark McClellan, outgoing administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, Former Sen. Bob Kerrey, and Sen. Charles Grassley (R-IA), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee. Larry Minnix, president and CEO of the American Association of Homes and Services for the Aging, and Bruce Yarwood, president and CEO of the American Health Care Association, also will speak.

One purpose of the meeting is to launch a voluntary, two-year Advancing Excellence in America's Nursing Homes campaign. The summit will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the National Academy of Sciences Auditorium, 2101 Constitution Avenue, NW.
