A 43-year-old Texas woman has been sentenced to prison time after she lied about her credentials and posed as a nurse at five different healthcare facilities, authorities announced on Tuesday.

Leticia Gallarzo pleaded guilty in July to posing as a registered nurse at two hospitals and three skilled nursing facilities in southern Texas over a 7-month period in 2015. The Texas Board of Nursing found that Gallarzo used the name and nursing license number of a registered nurse with a similar name in order to obtain employment. Gallarzo had no medical training, authorities said.

She was able to keep up her scheme by leaving the facility each time a provider discovered she wasn’t a nurse, and seeking employment in another city, authorities said.

Gallarzo was sentenced to 14 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release. She will also have to pay $34,000 in restitution. Gallarzo is currently in custody awaiting transfer to prison, the United States Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of Texas said.
