SEIU strikes unprecedented deal with Beverly Enterprises
The Service Employees International Union struck a historic deal with Beverly Enterprises to cover 1,500 workers at 24 of the chain's facilities in Pennsylvania under a statewide contract.
The contract includes wage increases averaging 4.5% per year, greater protection against subcontracting and layoffs, and higher tuition reimbursement.
Beverly employees have fought the company for 15 years on its labor standards. It has become the largest labor practice case in the history of the National Labor Relations Board.
