Reps: Extend caps policy

House members joined forces to urge committee leaders to extend the Medicare therapy caps exception policy.

More than one-third of the legislative body sent a letter to the heads of two committees in charge of Medicare to consider continuing the exception process beyond its scheduled end date of Dec. 31.
The process has given beneficiaries, including many nursing home residents, a reprieve from the caps, which went into effect in January.
Many House lawmakers who signed the letter are hoping to vote on legislation introduced by Rep. Philip S. English (R-PA) and Sen. John Ensign (R-NV) that would repeal the caps.
