Boston churches have undertaken a campaign to improve resident care and working conditions in area nursing homes, according to the Boston Globe.

Members of the multi-denominational Greater Boston Interfaith Organization have pledged to adopt nearby nursing homes and support nursing-home workers’ efforts to unionize. Clergy and their congregations also have said they will attempt to meet with nursing home management teams, and state officials, to press for changes and better worker benefits.

The Globe also reported that the campaign includes pressuring the attorney general to aggressively prosecute allegations of discriminatory acts against Haitians, who make up a vast majority of the nursing assistants in the area.
