Nursing home shrouded by scandal sold for $2.3 million
Family-owned Arbor Group bought the former Birchtree Healthcare, once owned by Tina Conner, the one-time mistress to former Kentucky Governor Paul Patton, for $2.3 million dollars.
Birchtree closed in December 2002 after Conner filed bankruptcy. Arbor reopened the nursing home as Arbor Place, and is now putting $1 million into renovations to make it into a multi-faceted health center.
The center, which will have a 98-bed nursing home, will also be supplemented with a doctor's office, an outpatient rehabilitation section, and a fitness center. It's scheduled to open in October and employ about 100.
