New top federal healthcare investigator appointed
An acting Health and Human Services Inspector General is in place after months of waiting. Daniel Levenson, formerly the inspector general at the General Services Administration, made the moved to HHS under an executive order last week by President Bush.
Levenson will oversee personnel and budget decisions that have been put off since Janet Rehnquist resigned at HHS' inspector general 15 months ago.
Dana Corrigan had overseen the office since Rehnquist's departure but had not been given the authority that Levenson now has. Corrigan also has not taken part in some agency business since she is looking for a job in private industry, according to published sources.
