New Hampshire home takes heat for employing sex offender
A nursing home in New Hampshire that employs jail inmates could change its practices following an incident that provoked complaints from residents' families.
Recently, it was discovered that a worker-inmate in the kitchen was on the state list of registered sex offenders. The home's top administrator was fired following the incident.
Officials were not aware that the inmate was on the state list of registered sex offenders. That inmate, who was on work release, was taken back to jail. Most inmates used at the home are non-violent offenders.
The facility may continue to hire inmates to mow the grass and shovel the snow, but they will likely never again come in direct contact with residents inside, according to Carroll County Commissioner Randy Lyman.
