The McKnight’s Long-Term Care News editorial team has earned four top national awards in the 25th Annual APEX competition. The honors cover a wide spectrum: website, e-newsletter, blog writing and print magazine productions.

McKnight’s earned a Grand Award for its website for the second straight year. Bolstered by an attractive new redesign that highlights the contributions of numerous bloggers, as well as daily, staff-written news items and more, the site’s contents are widely linked to by many stakeholders nationwide.

Senior Editor Elizabeth Newman, who also serves as webmaster, Staff Writer Tim Mullaney, Editor James M. Berklan and Editorial Director John O’Connor comprise the winning McKnight’s editorial team. Among other things, they are responsible for producing the Daily Editors’ Notes blog, which received a 2013 Award of Excellence from APEX.

For the second year in a row, McKnight’s Daily Update, a daily dispatch of news items and blogs, won an Award of Excellence in the “Best Newsletters — E-mail” category.

The flagship of the McKnight’s family, McKnight’s Long-Term Care News, won its sixth straight national honor from APEX, a 2013 Award of Excellence. In 2011, it was bestowed a Grand Award in the “Magazines & Journals — Print Over 32 Pages” category.

“You don’t win national awards like these by accident,” said O’Connor, referring to the third national program to honor McKnight’s in the span of just a few months. “In all humility, our team deserves recognition for providing such strong content and insightful analyses day in and day out. Nobody does it better.”

The APEX competition annually honors top editing and publishing efforts throughout the United States. APEX stands for Awards for Publication Excellence. McKnight’s has earned 27 APEX Awards overall, four of them Grand Awards, over the last seven years.
