McClellan to examine healthcare policy as senior fellow

Mark B. McClellan, the former administrator of the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services, plans to become a visiting senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute/Brookings Institution Joint Center for Regulatory Studies.

As a fellow, McClellan will develop ideas for improving the healthcare system. He also will remain an associate professor of economics and associate professor of medicine at Stanford University. He is currently on leave from the institution.

Leslie V. Norwalk, deputy administrator, replaced McClellan as interim administrator on Oct. 14. McClellan held CMS' top job for more than two years.
