Hoping to keep the momentum from an initial overflow long-term care health summit on information technology, organizers have announced a second installment. It will be held June 8-9 in Baltimore and include a wide array of key figures in the LTC tech world.

The title of the summit will be “Implementing the Road Map.” Last August, providers, tech professionals, academics, vendors and other stakeholders gathered to discuss key IT issues and set an agenda for the LTC community. The result was greater awareness and a report that outlined two years of possible action items.

This year’s gathering will focus again on the advancement of making a business case/funding for IT initiatives; standards; and data content and standardized transfer forms. The summit also will cover topics such as e-prescribing and drug safety, research and benchmarks, and quality initiatives.

The American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) again will sponsor the summit, with seven co-sponsors, which include the major nursing home associations and affiliated groups. For more information on the summit, visit www.ahima.org/meetings/ltc.
