Revised federal health IT strategic plan released, linked to long-term care

The Department of Health and Human Services wants to study nursing home patient assessment data to determine whether health information technology standards can improve coordination of care.

Nursing home residents are more likely to have multiple chronic conditions and require several costly transitions of care. As such, HHS is looking for information from vendors with expertise in this market, the publication Government Health IT, reported. More specifically, the department is requesting information regarding data and workflow in nursing homes, behavioral health and home health settings and experts in establishing health IT standards and training materials.

The department is seeking capability statements from vendors with such expertise, and will be accepting them until Sept. 7. Interested vendors can click here and here for more information on the submission process.
