The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has revised the manual that long-term care facility surveyors refer to, updating interpretive guidelines related to F-Tags.

The changes to Appendix PP of the State Operations Manual reflect information contained in Survey & Certification policy memos originally issued between October 2003 and May 2014, according to an advance guidance document released July 3.

Among the 20 F-Tags with updated guidelines are F-208 (Admission Policy), F-371(Sanitary Conditions) and F-441 (Infection Control).

The F-371 changes are among the most recent, dating to a May memo regarding preparation of eggs. This stated that all parts of the egg should be cooked until “completely firm.”
