The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services will host a conference call Wednesday to discuss the Skilled Nursing Facility Prospective Payment System Resource Utilization Group-Version 4 (RUG-IV).

During the call, CMS experts will explore coding procedures, placing an emphasis on the appropriate “look-back” periods to be used when coding the Minimum Data Set (MDS) 3.0, according to a CMS press release. They will also discuss the ways in which facility staff should separately report individual, concurrent and group therapy for accurate reimbursement, as well as changes to the ADL coding requirements and their impact on the assignment of MDS 3.0 records to a RUG-IV group.

CMS will be implementing the RUG-IV system on Oct. 1, 2010, though the agency stresses that this will be an interim measure. (McKnight’s, 5/26/10) More information about the conference call, including how to register, is available here.
