» Cambridge Realty Capital Companies recently arranged $24 million in Housing and Urban Development loans to refinance skilled nursing facilities with a total of 549 beds in three states. The loans will go to Alden Northmoor Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Illinois and four North American Health Care Inc. properties in California and Utah.  

» The Evangelical Lutheran Good Samaritan Society, a major nonprofit nursing facility operator, has partnered with the Mayo Clinic and design firm IDEO on a healthy aging crowd-sourcing project. Through the end of August, people can visit openideo.com/open/mayo-clinic to share ideas on the topic of how elders thrive and maintain independence. After responses are evaluated, a prototype-testing phase will begin.

» Health Care REIT has completed its acquisition of the Sunrise Senior Living property portfolio. The deal, announced in August 2012, represents an aggregate $4.3 billion investment, the trust stated last month. It involves 120 wholly owned and five joint venture properties. The REIT assumed $389.5 million in debt, as calculated on July 1.
