Many Americans soon will be good candidates for the weight loss-related game show, “The Biggest Loser,” Johns Hopkins University researchers suggest.

If people continue to gain weight at the current rate, 75% of U.S. adults will be overweight and 41% will be obese by 2015, the research team concluded. Their findings were published in the journal Epidemiologic Reviews.

The study used body mass index as the measurement of obesity. People with a BMI of 25 or higher are considered overweight, while those with BMIs of 30 or higher are obese. A total of 66% of U.S. adults were overweight or obese in 2003 and 2004.
