AHCA poll: 62% support extending federal Medicaid funds
A new poll released Thursday by the American Health Care Association suggests strong public support for extending federal Medicaid funding.
Roughly 62% of people surveyed in the Mellman Group poll supported additional federal funding for Medicaid, AHCA said. Nearly 75% opposed Medicaid cuts to nursing home reimbursement. Only 15% of those surveyed were in favor of cuts to nursing home funding. Voters were more likely to oppose a candidate who favors nursing home cuts by a margin of 64% to 11%, according to an AHCA press release.A temporary boost to the federal medical assistance percentage (FMAP) is set to expire at the end of the year, potentially throwing off state budget calculations for the coming fiscal year. A provision to extend the funding by six months is currently being debated in Congress.
