The American Association of Homes and Services officially changes its name to LeadingAge today as part of what its leaders call an effort to align itself more with its mission.

In addition to the name change, the group has adopted the mission statement: “Continually transforming society’s vision and deepening members’ commitment to expanding the ‘world of possibilities’ for aging.” LeadingAge’s new tagline is: “Inspire. Serve. Advocate.” The changes were first announced last summer.

Names of LeadingAge affiliates have been tweaked, too. The group formerly known as the Institute for the Future of Aging Studies (IFAS), for example, is now called the LeadingAge Center for Applied Research. In addition, the Centers for Aging Services Technologies is now the LeadingAge Center for Aging Services Technologies. At least 25 state chapters of the organization will change their names, too, some right away and some at later dates, an organization spokeswoman said Tuesday.
