Michael Hargrave, Vice President, NIC MAP

Skilled nursing housing occupancy numbers were stable for the third quarter of 2007. That represents both good news and bad news, said Michael Hargrave, of the National Investment Center for the Seniors Housing and Care Industry.

Inventory and demand are declining almost at the same rate, holding occupancy levels stable, he said. That bodes well for operators, but “it’s bad news for the industry as a whole because it’s getting smaller every quarter,” said Hargrave, vice president of the NIC MAP Data and Analysis Service.

Hargrave will talk about level occupancy rates and other market trends in the eldercare sector during McKnight’s Online Expo, which will take place on Wednesday, March 26, and Thursday, March 27. The free desktop show will feature four other webcasts on subjects, including Medicare reimbursement, information technology and labor relations.

The show will also feature a virtual conference hall where viewers can explore online booths from industry vendors, interact with company representatives and attend live presentations.
