McKnight’s Long-Term Care News earned top honors in the news coverage, profile writing and special supplement categories in this year’s American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors 2016 Awards, which were announced Friday.

The McKnight’s editorial staff won Gold Awards for Best News Coverage (for the seventh straight year) and for Best Special Supplement or Buyer’s Guide for the annual McKnight’s Industry Directory. Senior editor Elizabeth Newman also won a Gold Award for her January 2015 profile of Clifton J. Porter II, senior vice president of government relations for the American Health Care Association.

McKnights.com blogger Julie Thorson scooped up a Bronze Award for Best New Department with her Living Leadership column, which focuses on ways administrators and other long-term care managers can improve leadership skills and practices.

McKnight’s Senior Living also was a big winner, earning a Silver Award for Best Website and Online Presence. The mcknightsseniorliving.com website debuted in August, making the victory especially noteworthy.

“To be recognized this way by our peers is thrilling and humbling. I could not be prouder of our team,” said McKnight’s Editorial Director John O’Connor.

The American Society of Healthcare Publication Editors Awards recognizes the “high standards of excellence and professionalism” among healthcare publication editors and the publications they serve. McKnight’s publications have now earned 20 ASHPE Gold Awards, and dozens of others.
