Horizon Bay to Brookdale

Brookdale Senior Living will acquire Horizon Bay Realty, adding 90 communities with over 16,000 units to its portfolio. The deal is expected to close in August.

Brookdale agreed to restructure Horizon Bay's relationship with HCP Inc., with plans to own and operate 21 communities and lease 12 communities. The leased portfolio has a total of 1,547 units, including 156 skilled nursing units.

Meanwhile, Chartwell Seniors Housing REIT said management of 45 of its communities is going to Brookdale as a result of the acquisition.
