The Department of Health and Human Services issued its semiannual regulatory agenda in Monday’s Federal Register. Nothing on the agenda is specific to nursing homes, but a few items may impact nursing home companies and the residents they care for.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has two items that would revise home health agencies’ and hospices’ conditions for participation, dealing with quality.

The agenda also has a Food and Drug Administration proposed rule that would amend regulations governing the way patients can obtain investigational drugs for use in treatment.

In addition, the agenda shows a revision to the Inspector General’s exclusion authority to allow any federal healthcare program to request a waiver of an IG-imposed exclusion.

Congress requires federal agencies give an overview of planned and recently completed regulatory action twice a year.
