The American Society of Consultant Pharmacists will begin a search for a new executive director and CEO to lead the group beginning in 2018, current top executive Frank Grosso, RPh, has announced.

Speaking at ASCP’s annual meeting on Saturday, Grosso told members that the group’s Board of Directors is working on creating a search committee for the new director and CEO. Grosso, 66, was named CEO of the group in 2014 and has been a member since 1981.

“A friend of mine once said, ‘The time to think about change is when things are going well,’” Grosso noted while announcing the transition. ASCP posted a Facebook Live clip of his announcement, which drew a standing ovation from assembled members.

A job posting for the position said the society is seeking a “seasoned executive leader” to guide the group and serve as a “passionate advocate” for the older adults it serves. Grosso will continue to serve as executive director and CEO until a replacement is found, and throughout a transition period to be determined by the board.

“It’s important that this organization continue the momentum that we’ve built. Our membership is up, we’ve had a great meeting, and the future is ours,” Grosso said. “We just have to keep it moving.
